Thousands of candidates from around the world who apply for immigration to Canada through Express Entry have CRS score below 400. The most recent findings provided by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, dated April 19, 2018, have shown that a total pool size of more than 82,500 candidates, more than 51,000 scores between 301 and 400 CRS points. This becomes more difficult for candidates to immigrate into Canada.
The Canada Express Entry, now in its fourth year has invited economic immigration candidates. So far, Seven (7) out of eight draws have recorded minimum Comprehensive Ranking System scores of 440 and 450 with ITA numbers at a peak of 3,500.
The 26,500 profiles in the pool can improve their chances of getting Canadian immigration if they raise their CRS scores by just a few points. But for candidates with scores below 400, just adding a few points to their score is not enough. So, what can these candidates do to get the much-coveted Invitation to Apply for immigration?
Express Entry Job Offer
On November 2016, the amendment of CRS points for a job offer paved the way for those who had CRS scores below 400. This reduction remains the single most efficient way of quickly increasing a score to immigrate to Canada.
When the Express Entry was first launched, Every job offers backed by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) were valued at 600 CRS points. The changes saw the points available considerably dropped to 200 or 50, depending on the skill level of the job.
While Senior managerial positions (National Occupational Classification 00) became worth 200 points, all other qualified job offers (NOC 0, A or B) is now worth 50 points.
Adjustments were made in view to navigate the system towards candidates with core factors who can contribute towards attaining long-term success in Canada. These include education, Language ability and work experience, plus other such factors which were accredited to them so they can quickly improve their scores.
Obtaining a skilled job offers is the fastest way to transform a failing Express Entry profile into a successful one. A candidates’ profile scoring 400 points is likely not to receive an ITA. That same profile with a qualified job offer scores at barely 450 points, depending on the level of the job, could now achieve an ITA in seven out of eight 2018 draws.
Provincial Nomination Programs
The Government of Canada is placing a high premium on provincial nomination programs to economic immigrants who meet specific provincial labour market needs.
Between now and 2020, we will witness Ottawa expanding the PNP allocation by 33 per cent. This will enable Canada to manage their immigration streams better and consequently increase the hope for those candidates who want to immigrate to Canada but do not match the requirements of federal economic class programs.

A qualified job offer supported by a provincial nomination is another fast and reliable option to receive the extra points needed to qualify for Canadian permanent residence.
Will Express Entry Points Drop Below 400 In 2019
There are some reasons to believe that the Express Entry points or CRS Score will come down this year. But assurance is something we can not give you at this point.
The Canadian government is currently trying to relax its CRS score to accommodate immigrants who meet specific labour needs. You may have noticed that in 2017 the CRS cutoff points decrease to 413 and this year it is mostly in the range of 440 to 450. If we look at the current immigration situation for Canada then it looks like it is going to be the same range for the coming months.
The point here is that you keep trying to improve on your CRS Score if below 440. Never lose hope and keep your fingers crossed, you may get your invitation in next round too. Also, keep an open mind toward Saskatchewan Province nomination as the point requirements are the lowest.
